Today the Blue Ridge Baking Company continues to delight our original customers and we’re finding new ones throughout the US. 

Our Story

Blue Ridge Baking Company was started in 2007 by Greg Comforto, a native New Yorker who learned to love bagels there and became a bagel baker in Oregon and then in Crozet, Virginia. An avowed vegan, environmentalist, and self-described hippie, Greg saw the need for treats made from locally sourced ingredients and opened Blue Ridge Baking.

The area community– including the college campus communities of The University of Virginia and James Madison University– soon fell in love with his unique recipes.

In 2015, Greg partnered with Margaret Jones Kilmartin to bring the bakery to a broader audience. Greg took his leave in early 2016 and built himself a tiny house (we think his daughters and sons-in-law helped) and two more for his kids on a nice patch of land in Louisa County Virginia.

Today the Blue Ridge Baking Company continues to delight our original customers and we’re finding new ones throughout the US. We offer wholesale product to fine grocers and cafe’s, online ordering of portions of our product line and fundraising partnerships to help communities.
